Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a computer-assisted site that is integrated online with all kinds of methods used in production and the vehicle. It was first used in 1990.

MES performs four basic functions:

  • Instant-Simultaneous data collection from production site (eg machine stops).
  • Organizes data and stores it in a central database (integrated back and forth with ERP)
  • Planning and engineering also ensures that all data is accessible over the network, including critical data from other information systems stored in the database, such as the office.
  • It takes work orders from ERP and organizes them and transfers them to production units. At the same time, the case reacts with concurrent detailed planning to increase productivity and quality.

MES is to follow all the production movements from the raw material to the finished product with the help of the means of information. Work orders are served by the ERP to the equipment that the operator is working with through MES. The information in the field is integrated not on the operator but on the loom and on the equipment. It takes the inputs from the PLC software of the equipment and the equipment on the side and transmits it to the ERP system and the Andon panel to shorten the distribution and collection period of information and reduce errors.

Data collection panels integrated on the bench are used for input output cards, benches, presses, injection machines, etc. communication with the means of production.

Benefits of using MES

  • Shorten manufacturing cycle (cycle).
  • Reduce preparation / supply time.
  • It completely removes or reduces the time spent on data entry.
  • The product improves quality.
  • Removes or reduces the need for documentation between shifts.
  • Improve planning process
  • The factory increases the productivity of its employees.
  • It prevents your lost documents.
  • Production reduces the number of products waiting to be completed.
  • Improve customer service.

OPPORTUNITY INFORMATION NEEDED

A comprehensive Manufacturing Execution System (MES) meets the information needs of businesses.

Production department:
Business operators answer the following questions.

  • Why is not this machine working?
  • Can I measure the speed of the machine correctly?
  • How are the postures this month compared to last year?

Engineering Office:
Engineers can respond to the following questions.

  • Are the reference values correct for this control cycle?
  • Does the lockout limits make process values unstable?
  • Do the alarms alert the operators at their discretion?

Process Engineers respond to the following issues.

  • Does this machine create a narrow throat in production?
  • How did this driver break down?
  • Are my stocks adequate?

Quality Department:
Quality Assurance personnel are also involved in various inquiries.

  • Did prescription changes affect product quality and quantity?
  • Did the bed temperatures and vibration increase after last care?
  • How many hours did the machines last?

The MES system to be installed will provide the general information listed above as well as the special production orders listed below;

  • Following the detail of production
  • Quality management
  • Monitoring of operator and other elements
  • Communication and integration with ERP

MES, not MIS

MES should not be confused with MIS (Management Information System). By creating “artificial intelligence” using the information held on my site, MES fulfills the following functions that MIS can not:

  • Production,
  • Part production and measurement,
  • Manage business order priorities,
  • Personnel assignment / reassignment,
  • Allocating / reallocating semifinished products,
  • Opening, closing,
  • Transferring semi-finished products to work stations, receiving from work stations,
  • Programming / reprogramming production equipment,
  • Supplier management,
  • With the international best practice in the production process, lean production and six sigma thinking,
  • Direct development of supply chain management response time
